Due to the changing direction of Lund Konsthall, a seminar will be held in collaboration between Lund Konsthall and Malmö Art Academy at Stadshallen in Lund discussing the role of art in today’s society. The seminar will focus on art and its relation to production of knowledge.

During the past thirty years the concept of art has not only expanded enormously but also changed its focus from the artefact to the location or space where the artistic intervention takes place, from emotion to reflection, from intuition to research. The concept of art itself has widened into being interrogative as well as reflective/self-reflective. The locations where art is being exhibited, discussed and produced, have simultaneously been decentralised and become global. This being the case, art has transformed into a hybrid character which, in its turn, will – quite likely – imply consequences for all the parts of art life which support and exhibit art – Art Halls, Museums, Pedagogues, Research Centres, University Scholars of Art, Academies of Art and Artists. In this great task of transformation, Lund Konsthall will be finding its new role.
