The Playground Project
5 February – 8 May 2022
The Playground Project starts with the history of playground sculpture, from the late nineteenth century until the 1980s. It is an exhibition about play, but also about attitudes towards children in urban environments as the welfare state was emerging. The travelling exhibition is curated by Gabriela Burkhalter (Basel) and has been shown at Kunsthalle Zürich in Switzerland, VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art in Carlow, Ireland, and Bundeskunsthalle Bonn in Germany. At Lunds konsthall connections to Swedish sculptural tradition will be added, with contributions by artists such as Egon Möller-Nielsen, Pye Engström and Axel Nordell.
