The exhibiton shows different ways of approaching the notion of 'the possible' in art. According to the philosopher Henri Bergson (1859–1941) the possible is not a pre-formed category that precedes action. Our actions, Bergson says, are always free and unpredictable. Therefore they create the possible retroactively.
The participating artists attempt to stretch the boundaries of what is considered possible in art. Is anything impossible in art? Miriam Bäckström shares her authorship with other artists and with the curator of the exhibition. Ion Grigorescu rediscovers and restages his own work from 30 years ago. Arturas Raila leaves behind a practice of 'investigation' to concentrate on the power of the iconic image. Raqs Media Collective were asked to do something which is normally considered wrong, to illustrate the exhibition concept with a new work.
The exhibition is supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm and the Lithuanian Institute in Vilnius. Lund Konsthall has collaborated with Frankfurter Kunstverein, Salzburger Kunstverein, Färgfabrken in Stockholm and the Malmö Art Academy.
